In this UEI College program*, you’ll learn to manage the day-to-day operations of a medical facility with an emphasis on medical billing, coding and health unit coordinating. Administrative Medical Assistant (Billing & Coding) is an exciting career path, as healthcare is the country’s largest industry and the demand for billing and recordkeeping is increasing rapidly. Students in the program can earn certifications in first aid and CPR through the American Red Cross. You’re also prepared to earn Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification. Program overview

Our Administrative Medical Assistant (Billing & Coding) program emphasizes terminology, practices and procedures most associated with the operation, administration, recordkeeping, billing and coding of a medical office. This program also includes an internship where you’ll gain practical hands-on experience. Duties you’ll perform include:

  • Updating and filing patient records
  • Filling out insurance forms
  • Handling billing and coding
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Answering phones
  • Greeting patients

Career outcome

The Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Occupational Outlook Handbook** reports: “Employment is projected to grow much faster than average, ranking medical assistants among the fastest growing occupations over the 2008–18 time period. Job opportunities should be excellent, particularly for those with formal training or experience, and certification.” UEI College is where you can get the training, experience and certification.
