Do You Need a Degree to Become a Dental Assistant?
You do not need to have a two or four-year college degree to become a dental assistant. The requirements to become a dental assistant vary by state, but each state requires applicants to have a high school diploma or equivalent at a minimum. If you already have a high school diploma, you’re one step closer to becoming a dental assistant. There are no prerequisites to enroll in the Dental Assistant School at UEI College. You can enroll today and usually begin your training within a month. At the conclusion of the program, you’ll complete a hands-on externship, providing you with real-world experience that will allow you to feel confident in your new career as a medical assistant.
Some states do not require an official certification to be considered for employment, but most require individuals to complete a comprehensive Dental Assisting Training Program in order to operate the equipment used in the office. Completing a program and optional certification will make you a more valuable employee and more competitive in the job market.
