After inspiring UEI College Oceanside graduates as the Fall 2024 commencement speaker, Councilmember Figueroa visited the campus to meet some skilled trades students and see their training in action. His visit focused on UEI’s hands-on HVAC Technician, Automotive Technician, and Electrician Technician programs—pathways in the skilled trades that open doors to life-changing careers.
Councilmember Jimmy Figueroa is a proud Oceanside native whose journey—from high school dropout to UC Berkeley graduate and law school alum—is a powerful story of resilience and second chances. The son of Mexican immigrants, he brings heart, humility, and lived experience to public service and the City of Oceanside. UEI College Oceanside extends our thanks for his visit to the campus.
