DeKalb County CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson Inspires Graduates at UEI Stone Mountain
Graduation day at UEI Stone Mountain was made even more memorable as DeKalb County CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson delivered a powerful and uplifting keynote address to the Class of 2026.
CEO Cochran-Johnson opened her remarks by thanking United Education Institute for its continued commitment to educating, empowering, and uplifting students across DeKalb County. She emphasized the vital role institutions like UEI play in strengthening the local workforce and expanding opportunities for residents to build meaningful, sustainable careers.
Throughout her address, CEO Cochran-Johnson encouraged graduates to reflect on their personal journeys and to take pride in the perseverance that brought them to this milestone.
“It doesn’t matter where you start in life,” she told graduates. “What matters is where you end up. I don’t know what your road looked like, but what matters to me today is that you finished what you started.”
She reminded graduates that they are stepping into more than just jobs—they are entering careers that allow them to serve others, solve real-world problems, and contribute to stronger communities.
“You’re not just entering jobs,” she said. “You’re stepping into roles that help strengthen communities and give you the ability to create a living wage for your family.”
CEO Cochran-Johnson concluded by affirming the quality and impact of the education graduates received, highlighting UEI Stone Mountain as a strong institution rooted in DeKalb County and dedicated to student success.
“You are the product of a fine institution located right here in DeKalb County, Georgia. Stone Mountain,” she said.
The ceremony celebrated not only academic achievement, but also resilience, determination, and the promise of a brighter future. UEI Stone Mountain is proud to have partnered with DeKalb County leaders to honor and inspire graduates as they take the next step toward impactful careers and lifelong success.
