Senator Michael Padilla Inspires Albuquerque’s First UEI Graduates

The energy was electric in Albuquerque on May 1st as United Education Institute (UEI) celebrated its very first graduation ceremony in the city. It was a day of “firsts,” and the occasion was made even more unforgettable by our keynote speaker, New Mexico Senator Michael Padilla.

Senator Padilla did far more than simply deliver a speech from the podium. He arrived early to mentor students and instructors behind the scenes, and later joined Campus President Chris Callisto to personally hand-deliver diplomas to every graduate. Demonstrating his commitment to the community, the Senator stayed until the very last cap was tossed, ensuring every student felt the weight of their achievement.

During his address, Senator Padilla shared powerful insights that resonated deeply with the Class of 2026. Here are some of the highlights from his inspiring keynote:

From Classmates to Colleagues

The Senator reminded graduates that their relationship to one another changed the moment they walked across the stage.

“I want you to look to the left, look to the right… You are colleagues now,” he said. “You’re not just fellow students. You’re not just neighbors. You are actually colleagues now. And I want you to lift each other up.”

A Tribute to the Educators

Recognizing that success is a team effort, Senator Padilla took a moment to thank the dedicated instructors and staff who make the UEI experience possible. He praised the faculty for their patience and their ability to make complex skills feel achievable.

“You didn’t just teach lessons, you built confidence,” the Senator noted. “You didn’t just train students, you shaped professionals for the future.”

Secrets to a Successful Career

As a highly successful business owner in New Mexico, Senator Padilla didn’t just offer platitudes; he offered a practical roadmap for the professional world. He shared his three “secrets” for a long and prosperous career:

  1. Show up.
  2. Show up on time.
  3. Be the hardest working person in the room every single time, without fail.

We are incredibly proud of our Albuquerque graduates and grateful to Senator Padilla for his time, his wisdom, and his hands-on support of our mission. Congratulations to the new professionals of New Mexico!
