UEI Houston Celebrates Grand Opening
The energy in Southwest Houston reached a new high on April 30th, as we officially celebrated the grand opening of the United Education Institute (UEI) Houston campus It wasn’t just a ribbon-cutting; it was a powerful demonstration of community support, bringing together leaders from every level of government—City, County, and State—to welcome a new era of career-focused education to the area.
A Warm Welcome from City and State Leaders
The ceremony was graced by several distinguished guests who recognize the vital role vocational training plays in the Houston economy.
City of Houston Councilman Edward Pollard served as our keynote speaker, delivering a powerful message about the importance of local investment. He presented UEI with a Certificate of Recognition, emphasizing how the campus serves as a beacon of growth for the corridor.
The recognition didn’t stop there:
- Texas State Senator Borris Miles honored the campus with a beautiful Texas Senate resolution.
- Texas State Representative Hubert Vo provided a Certificate of Special Recognition, highlighting UEI’s commitment to the local community.
- Candice Young, representing Harris County Commissioner Lesley Briones, shared inspiring remarks and presented a county Certificate of Recognition.
“This Community Needs You”
During his keynote, Councilman Pollard spoke directly to the heart of UEI’s mission. He noted that the city has prioritized transforming this specific corridor, and UEI is a major piece of that puzzle.
“To UEI—You’re investing in this community. You could be in a lot of other places around the city of Houston, but you showed up in this corridor,” Councilman Pollard shared. “This community needs to see that there is investment here, where there are pathways for residents to be able to pursue. Thank you for investing in our community.”
The sentiment was personal, too. Ms. Young shared during her remarks that her own niece is aspiring to become a Medical Assistant—a reminder that the programs offered at UEI touch the lives of families right here in our neighborhood.
