
UEI College Reseda had the honor of welcoming California Senator Caroline Menjivar to campus, where she connected deeply with students across multiple programs.
The visit began with a warm greeting from Medical Assistant student ambassador Jocelyn De La Cruz, who proudly represented her peers alongside Executive Director Crystal Ramirez. Together, they guided the Senator to the MA lab. With her background as a former EMT and her current role as Chair of the Senate Health Committee—as well as service on the Senate Budget & Fiscal Review and Senate Business, Professions and Economic Development Committees—Senator Menjivar brought both professional and personal insights that made her visit especially meaningful.
She spent over 15 minutes in conversation with MA students, asking thoughtful questions about their paths to UEI, their experiences with financial aid and transportation, and their career plans after externship. Her engagement continued in the Electrical Technician lab, where she bonded with a fellow former Marine over shared stories of military service. When she asked how he planned to land a job in his new field, he confidently responded, “UEI helps you with that!”
Additional stops in the Dental and HVAC labs highlighted the range of hands-on training offered at the The Senator’s visit was enjoyed by all thanks to her genuine curiosity and the energy of UEI’s students and instructors.
