California Senator Steve Padilla delivered an inspiring commencement address at UEI College Chula Vista’s graduation ceremony. A proud Chula Vista native, the Senator shared motivating words as graduates celebrated their achievements and looked ahead to new beginnings:
• “I understand when you feel alone, I understand when you focus on obstacles instead of opportunities. But, I also know the joy and satisfaction when you step past that…when you can see your own future. When you start to believe in yourself …and make tomorrow much, much better than today.”
• “All of you are needed….California is now the 4th largest economy in the world, above Japan.”
• “You have been wise enough to take a little risk, learning new skills, modeling them and practicing them.”
• “You’ve had some great help along the way… maybe it’s your friends, maybe it’s the faculty and staff at UEI… whatever it is, you’ve had help.”
• “I saw all the shout-outs when y’all were walking in — that’s love, that’s pride, and encouragement! It’s a gift!”
