Senator Steven Choi Visits UEI College Garden Grove

UEI College Garden Grove

UEI College in Garden Grove had the honor of welcoming California State Senator Steven Choi and District Director Kyle Swarts to campus this week as part of the Senator’s legislative summer recess.

Senator Choi’s visit follows a connection made earlier this year, during which he expressed strong interest in UEI College’s hands-on, career-focused training programs. A lifelong educator and staunch advocate for workforce development, Senator Choi serves as Vice Chair of the Senate Business, Professions and Economic Development Committee and is a member of the Senate Education Committee. He also previously served as Vice Chair of the Assembly’s Higher Education Committee. Before entering public service, Dr. Choi taught Korean language at the University of California and founded his own Korean language school.

During his time at UEI College Garden Grove, Senator Choi met with students and faculty from the Electrical Technician program. He listened as two current students shared their transformative experiences at UEI, highlighting the personal and professional growth they’ve experienced in the program. As a former educator himself, Senator Choi was especially eager to speak with instructors and gain insight into how programs like those offered at UEI are addressing workforce needs across the state.

Throughout the visit, the Senator asked thoughtful questions and expressed appreciation for the career-relevant training UEI provides. His recognition of the school’s role in preparing students for in-demand technical careers underscores the importance of practical education in strengthening California’s economy and communities.

UEI College is proud to be a part of this conversation and grateful for the opportunity to showcase our commitment to student success. We thank Senator Choi and District Director Swarts for visiting and look forward to continued collaboration in support of career education.
