In this module, the student will learn the basic responsibilities of the medical assistant and the duties performed by them on the job. Students will learn the basics of medical law and ethics and the importance of documentation in the workplace. The student will get a basic understanding of HIPAA law and improve their communication skills. Externship provides a realistic workplace environment where students refine technological, procedural, decision-making, and interpersonal skills. Students apply classroom training at approved facilities under supervision. Satisfactory completion is required for graduation. Prerequisite: Successful completion of modules 110-170.
