City Councilmember Cervantes Inspires Riverside Graduates

UEI College celebrated with a powerful and heartfelt keynote address from City of Riverside Councilmember Clarissa Cervantes.

UEI College proudly celebrated Riverside’s first graduation ceremony of 2026 with a powerful and heartfelt keynote address from City of Riverside Councilmember Clarissa Cervantes.

Standing before a room filled with graduates, families, faculty, and friends, Councilmember Cervantes shared her personal journey — one marked by determination, growth, and the courage to step into her potential. She spoke candidly about moments in her life when others saw something in her that she did not yet see in herself.

“There were people who encouraged me not to stay small,” she reflected. “They recognized my potential even when I couldn’t.”

Her story resonated deeply with the graduating class — many of whom have faced their own challenges, doubts, and defining moments on their path to this milestone.

A Message of Courage and Confidence

Graduation marks more than the completion of a program. It represents perseverance, sacrifice, and the decision to keep moving forward despite obstacles. Councilmember Cervantes reminded students that their journey does not end with a diploma — in many ways, it is just beginning.

She challenged graduates to embrace their capabilities fully and to step boldly into their futures.

Her closing message brought the audience to its feet:

“Stay brave, stay courageous. Don’t forget, you are no longer allowed to play small!”

It was a powerful call to action — one that encourages graduates to pursue opportunities confidently, advocate for themselves, and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

Celebrating New Beginnings

The ceremony was filled with pride and celebration as students crossed the stage, marking the culmination of their hard work and dedication. For many, the moment represented a new chapter: new careers, new goals, and new possibilities.

At UEI College, we are committed to equipping students not only with career-focused training but also with the confidence to step into their potential. Councilmember Cervantes’ message perfectly captured the spirit of the day — a reminder that success begins with believing you are capable of more.

“To the Riverside Class of 2026: your community believes in you. Your instructors believe in you. Your families believe in you.

Now it’s your turn to believe in yourself.

Stay brave. Stay courageous. And never play small again,” she said.
